Today we celebrated the Cook County Land Bank’s 2,500th home ribbon cutting — a major milestone in bringing vacant properties back to life across Cook County. 🏡✂️

Since 2013, this work has helped create jobs, strengthen neighborhoods, and turn long-disinvested properties into new opportunities for families and communities.

When we invest in housing, we invest in the future of our neighborhoods.

Investing in our communities is one of the most important things we can do. Because it’s not just about where you live — it’s about how you live.

When we invest in neighborhoods like North Lawndale, we create safer communities, stronger local economies, more opportunities for families, and a better quality of life for residents across Cook County.

Vacant land is full of opportunity when communities have the tools, resources, and partnerships to bring new ideas to life.

Join us tomorrow for “Unlocking the Keys to Success: Vacant Land” with the Cook County Land Bank Authority to learn more about redevelopment opportunities, funding resources, and pathways to community investment across Cook County.

Together, we can turn vacant spaces into thriving community assets.

I was proud to join 100 seniors at Hope Presbyterian Church in the 2nd District for a meaningful laptop giveaway. After being pre-trained by the Hope Technology and Education Center, they’re now equipped to confidently stay connected in today’s digital world.

Thank you to Pastor Leslie Sanders and First Lady Julie Sanders for your leadership and commitment to our community.

This is what real impact looks like—access, education, and opportunity right here at home.
