The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is excited to announce COPA People's Academy Session VI, a six-week condensed version of COPA's Training Academy for the public (civilian or sworn) and organizations around the country.

Registration is now open.

We are thrilled to continue offering this program and are launching Session VI beginning on September 15, 2026. COPA People's Academy is designed to educate citizens on COPA's processes including, the History of Civilian Oversight of Policing in Chicago, Introduction to Officer-Involved Shootings Investigations, Witness Reliability, Standards of Proof, Analyzing Video, Use of Force, and our Policy Research & Analyses Division (PRAD).

The Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA) is hosting a series of community listening sessions to help in the search for the next Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.

Our next session will take place on Tuesday, August 25 at Kennedy High School. We want to hear directly from residents about the qualities and leadership they want to see in Chicago's next Superintendent.
