Who we are & What we do

Featherfist, formed in 1984, serves homeless men, women and children and those "at risk" of becoming homeless throughout the City of Chicago. Over the past 35 years, Featherfist has grown from a grass roots service program focused on emergency outreach and engagement services to a comprehensive supportive housing program assisting the homeless achieve permanent housing and independent living. The service strategy recognizes the unique conditions of each homeless household.

It is our mission to give power and purpose to individuals who are homeless and seek supportive services that promote re-entry into the mainstream. Since we realize that shelter is not enough, we expand our services to include a full range of supportive service networks to meet the myriad demands of retraining, rehabilitating and re-entry into the mainstream. We believe that those persons requiring assistance to be self-reliant -whether mentally or physically exceptional - should have the opportunity to function as independent and productive members of society. It is our mission to eliminate homelessness!
