Black Lives Matter. Jewish Students in Public Policy stands in solidarity with the people in Chicago, throughout the country, and around the world fighting for an end to police violence, white supremacy, systemic racism, and racial injustice. We mourn the memories of George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, Tony McDade, David McAtee, and many other Black Americans who have been by murdered by racist and unaccountable police. Anti-Blackness pervades all aspects of American society, and as such we know that structural policy changes are needed to bring about peace and justice.

Jewish tradition calls on us to support our Black community members by getting involved in this movement: צדק צדק תרדוף “Justice, Justice, Shall You Pursue” (Deuteronomy 16:20). Please join us in supporting Black lives through these resources (thanks Minorities in Public Policy Studies for the graphic):

Our Story

Jewish Students in Public Policy is focused on building community around Jewish identities at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. We welcome anyone across denomination, level of practice, Jewish knowledge, racial and ethnic background, gender identify, sexual orientation, and those with just a curiosity to learn.

As a registered campus organization, JSPP hosts gatherings to celebrate Jewish holidays, orchestrates community events, and serves as a resource for students to look at public policy through a Jewish lens. We also seek to collaborate with other students to build an inter- and multi-faith community of policy practitioners.
