Black Lives Matter. Jewish Students in Public Policy stands in solidarity with the people in Chicago, throughout the country, and around the world fighting for an end to police violence, white supremacy, systemic racism, and racial injustice. We mourn the memories of George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, Tony McDade, David McAtee, and many other Black Americans who have been by murdered by racist and unaccountable police. Anti-Blackness pervades all aspects of American society, and as such we know that structural policy changes are needed to bring about peace and justice.
Jewish tradition calls on us to support our Black community members by getting involved in this movement: צדק צדק תרדוף “Justice, Justice, Shall You Pursue” (Deuteronomy 16:20).
