The additional SNAP / Food Stamp monthly benefits that were being provided during the pandemic will end after this month. Many older Americans will see their monthly Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefit shrink from $295 to as little as $23, the federal minimum, according to a recent Huffpost article, by Arthur Delaney. Older adults should begin to budget accordingly, as well as seek out other options such as food pantry’s and older adults produce markets, such as those offered by the Greater Chicago Food Depository in Chicago. Unused SNAP benefits will continue to be available to be used on your card for at least 9 months. If you have leftover funds in your account, they will roll over into the next month. Don’t illiegally give these benefits to family members, save them for yourself!
