Exciting Announcement!!!!

It's that time of year again! I would like to formally announce the start of the application period for the Justice Freeman Fellowship. The Justice Freeman Fellowship is the flagship program of Amplified Voices, a Chicago nonprofit with a mission to diversify Chicago's legal field.

The mission of the Justice Freeman Fellowship is to introduce new, diverse faces to Chicago’s legal profession. Our theory of change relies upon self- actualization; we believe exposure and practical experience will provide participating youth with the confidence necessary to imagine themselves as active participants in the legal profession.

We are looking for high school students from the south and west sides of Chicago with an interest in learning about the legal field and working all summer alongside attorneys, judges, and legal professionals. Students will receive a generous $1,500 stipend, food and clothes stipend, transportation allowance, and more! They will visit the Illinois Supreme Court, Appellate Court, and Circuit Court where they will meet with sitting justices and judges. Fellows will also attend weekly lunch and learns with leading attorneys and legal professionals in the city.

Our summer dump has a different beat.
We had a blast closing out the summer at our Justice Freeman Awards and Fundraising Gala. We honored the 2024 Justice Freeman Fellows, we celebrated our program partners, and we had a blast!
We raised a grand total of 10k thanks to everyone’s contributions! We are so very grateful and looking forward to next summer!

Our fellows had the distinct pleasure of shadowing judges in the Cook County courthouse for a day thanks to Judge Boyd! They got to learn the inter workings of the courthouse and observe a voi dire selection process as well as a divorce proceeding. It’s these types of experiences that we want to continue to give youth from Chicago’s South and West sides. Will you help us continue our mission?
