In case you haven't noticed, it's World Cup Time! The NYPL The New York Public Library put together a great list of soccer-related reads for all ages, fiction and nonfiction (including books en Español). There is also a separate link for more reads for kids and teens.

What a great opportunity to plan to bring comics into the classroom, as primary or secondary sources!!

NCTE is expanding our work with comics and primary sources! English language arts professionals are invited to apply for a new teacher-driven, collaborative learning opportunity tied to The Library of Congress's collection of comics—the largest publicly available comic book collection in the world.

Educators will work in cohorts to develop teaching and learning resources using the Library’s collection, tapping growing interest in infusing comics into ELA instruction to build valuable skills like reading comprehension, empathy, and critical thinking.

We'll be getting our books mostly from Kent County Public Library & we're signing up for the "Unearth a Story" summer reading program there. Support your library - and your own literacy - and join us in a few good reads!

Our students always get so much out of these internships with the Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience - dare we say that Starr + EDU = a great team?!?

These internships are valuable for students across majors, and so many have an education component that our students have used to publish, get more scholarships and internships, and get JOBS!
