Kids Run Trains Kids Run Trains inspires the next generation by putting the throttle in kids’ hands.

Through hands-on fun, family connection, and Lionel model trains, we spark creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong love of trains. KRT is a model train club effort focused on introducing the hobby to families through interactive and hands-on exhibits. KRT will provide educational opportunities related to the hobby to groups such as the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, or Girl Scouts or through an after schoo

l enrichment program with Southeastern Elementary School in Chesapeake

Why KRT?
-Because running trains is fun!
-Promotes the growth of the hobby
-Reconnects adults with their childhood memories

We’re excited to share our upcoming 2026–2027 event schedule! From holiday favorites to train shows and library events, we have plenty of opportunities for families to come out, enjoy the trains, and make some great memories together.

📅 Upcoming Events:

Nov. 21–22, 2026 — Chesapeake Holiday Craft Show
Nov. 27–29, 2026 — Planes, Trains & Santa at the Military Aviation Museum
Feb. 13–14, 2027 — Greenberg Train Show at the Hampton Roads Convention Center
June 5–6, 2027 — Train Time at the Chesapeake Public Library

Kids Run Trains features interactive model train displays and activities for all ages. Come drive the trains, push the buttons, explore the displays, and experience the fun of model railroading!
