Family Readiness
Our capabilities as a Squadron are based on the readiness of Marines. Marines are ready when they are informed, properly trained, assimilated into a team, and supported by an equally ready family. Family readiness is therefore a critical requirement and enabler of success. Marines and their families are not just in the unit—they are the unit. One cannot exist without the other. A
Marine needs the support of a family in order to concentrate on the mission overseas, but the family—spouses, children, and parents—must be well-prepared and supported in order to accomplish the mission at home. The objectives of our Family Readiness Program are to:
Keep families up-to-date with accurate and reliable information. Regular and consistent communication ensures our families are informed and part of the team, prevents rumors, and reduces stress. The Family Readiness Officer and Family Readiness Assistants know the ins and outs of military living, and possess the knowledge to help other families through the difficult periods of deployment. In addition to their life experiences, they have extensive training on the programs and services available to help support families. Provide active support. No one needs to be alone, and any problems or challenges a family may face have no doubt been met and overcome by others. Create a partnership between the unit and its families. Engagement, frequent events, and open lines of communication establish and reinforce the connection between us. Our Family Readiness Officer and the Family Readiness Team are always on duty.
