🚧 GROTON ROAD (ROUTE 40) — SATURDAY ROADWORK & DETOUR

Water main crossing work is scheduled near the Snake Meadow culvert on Saturday, October 24.

➡️ Detour: 7 a.m.–noon
👷 Work hours: 7 a.m.–3 p.m.

Traffic will be detoured around the work area during the morning. Work will continue after the detour ends, so please expect delays, follow posted signs and directions from police detail officers, and use caution near crews.

If you’re heading to Saturday’s event at Stony Brook School, please allow extra travel time.

💊 DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Chelmsford Police Department will be participating in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired medications and help prevent prescription drug misuse.

The Chelmsford Police Department is proud to announce the successful completion of our first R.A.D. (R**e Aggression Defense) Women’s Self-Defense class!

This marks an exciting milestone for our newly launched program, which focuses on awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and physical defense techniques. We were pleased to bring this valuable training to members of our community and help participants build confidence and skills to protect themselves.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to all who helped launch the program and make our first class a success. We look forward to building on this momentum with future classes!

NEMLEC Critical Incident Stress Management Team Gets 400 First Responders to Focus on Themselves and Wellness Amid Trauma and Suicides

WOBURN — Travis Howze, a burly Marine, firefighter, police officer and comedian, stood before about 400 first responders on Saturday morning and confronted them all with the fact that su***de kills more first responders than line-of-duty deaths.

“We are the biggest threat to ourselves, not the big, bad boogeyman out there,” Howze said. “All of us signed up because we wanted to help, but we were young and naive, and we didn’t realize the cost of that.”

Only moments later, Howze had the audience laughing along as he used humor to lighten to the load of a discussion of trauma, mental health, su***de, wellness, and how to build resiliency.

Expect delays on roadways on or near the course between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM due to waves of runners, and plan to avoid the area if possible.

Expect significant delays in the following areas:
- Middlesex Street
- Princeton Street
- Vinal Square
- Tyngsboro Road

We’re collecting food donations in the Chelmsford Police Department lobby, with pickup scheduled for October 27 and delivery to families on October 28.

Suggested donations include peanut butter, jelly, canned goods, pasta, mac & cheese, cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, ramen, and crackers. Please see the graphic for specific sizes and packaging.
