For nearly 32 years, Judge Lila Statom has served the people of the State of Tennessee and Hamilton County as a career prosecutor, victim’s advocate, and volunteer. Early in her career as a prosecutor, she worked for nearly 10 years as an Assistant District Attorney in Nashville, Tennessee. She was a team leader with the Hamilton County District Attorney’s office working in both Criminal Court and
General Sessions Court. Except for her time in Nashville, Judge Statom has been a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. She graduated from Red Bank High School. Judge Statom received her B.S. in Political Science Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before moving to Memphis to pursue her J.D. Judge Statom is a 1988 graduate of the University of Memphis. After receiving her Juris Doctorate, she attended Emory University in Atlanta and obtained an LL.M. in Litigation. Judge Statom enjoys being active in her community. She is a former board member of the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation, a member of Southeast Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women, Women’s Leadership Institute, National Association of Women Judges, Brock-Cooper American Inns of Court, member of NADCP, Harrison Ruritan Club, Hamilton County Pachyderm Club, and attends Clear Creek Church of Christ. Statom is married to Harry Spillman, a pilot with United Airlines. She enjoys spending time with her son, Zack, a graduate of Harding University, step-daughter, Rose, a graduate of Pepperdine University, and her grand-daughter Kaleah.
