Out here in the grit and chaos of the front lines, the flag on my shoulder reminds me of every veteran who stood their ground before me. Today, on Veterans Day, we honour the brave men and women whose courage shaped our path, whose sacrifice strengthened our nation, and whose spirit still carries us forward. Their service is our guiding star in the field, at home, and forever.

The CGMCG proudly represented at last week’s National Cavalry Competition, bringing home 1st place and a total of 19 awards. 🏆🐎 Pegasus Award for best horse went to Comanche, with CPT Gurnow taking Level 1 Best Rider. Maj. Howl’s unit earned 2nd place for their moment in history, and the CGMCG secured the overall trophy and streamer for Best Military Unit. An outstanding showing of Cavalry pride and excellence!

MAJ Mary Johnson, 1ID Environmental Science and Engineering Officer, performed the Oath of Office with 2LT Maxwell P. Galbraith on 24 Sept 2025. 2LT Maxwell P. Galbraith was officially sworn into the Medical Service Corps following his acceptance by the Army Medical Department Commissioning Board. A branch transfer from the Engineer Corps, 2LT Galbraith holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and is currently completing a Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Analysis. He will be assigned to the 101st Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, where he will serve as the Brigade Environmental Science Officer. 2LT Galbraith and Ms. Yolanda Salas, Welcome to the Big Red One Family!
