I have to point out the absolute clownery of this article as it relates to my race. The article is behind a paywall but you can listen to an audio version for free.
Last week I had an interview via phone, as it’s part of the endorsement process. I spoke with someone from the observer for about 20 minutes or so, going over the various major focus points of my campaign, those being crime, education and economy. I answered questions about what I would do, how the State of North Carolina has a role, etc.
Instead of mentioning any of the policy positions I stated, the observer had only this to say about me.
“Joshua Niday does not have the same sophisticated grasp of issues facing his district”
Really?
Well let’s start with crime. Just last week the very apartment complex I live in had about a dozen cars broken into. My apartment by the way is in the Ballantyne area, a supposed “safer” part of Charlotte. Violent crime is rising in Charlotte. I have a plan to deal with that.
Illegal immigration, which I also talked about, is destroying this country, and unlike my opponent, I support NC HB 10, a bill that would require law enforcement to honor ICE detainer requests for violent offenders here illegally. Today, there are an estimated 300,000 illegal aliens within the borders of North Carolina. For context, that number is about the size of Greensboro. That is a problem and if Border czar Harris won’t do her job, it’s up to the states to take action.
I talked about human trafficking and how we need to do more to give law enforcement the resources to deal with it. We also need more education and awareness about human trafficking and help for survivors of this horrible crime.
These are actual issues faced by actual citizens of the district….But according to the observer I “don’t have the same sophisticated grasp of issues facing his district”.
How about the economy? We’re all feeling the pain at the grocery store. We’re all feeling the impact of … (by the way notice how the democrats are running away from that term and haven’t used it for a long time). During the interview I was asked about my thoughts on the economy. I talked about cutting state income tax. I also talked about cutting regulations for businesses, so they don’t have to pass along those costs to consumers. I talked about luring higher paying jobs to the area and my support for cutting red tape when it comes to housing to help increase the supply of available housing. The Biden Harris administration has made life so much worse for the people of this district, and my plan will actually help the citizens.
Now, the last time I checked, and I could be wrong, but the people of my district purchase groceries and other goods and live in houses, apartments and townhomes, and they have all seen their costs go up on EVERYTHING over the last three and a half years.
But according to the observer, I “ don’t have the same sophisticated grasp of issues facing his district”.
How about education? I talked briefly about this during the interview. I expressed my view that each child, regardless of zip code, should have access to more options for education and better educational outcomes. I support school vouchers and parental rights and even teacher pay raises, including the many teacher pay raises that have been vetoed by Governor Cooper.
The only thing the observer could say was I “don’t have the same sophisticated grasp of issues facing his district”.
This is precisely why there is serious mistrust in the media.
I decided to run this year because I wanted to give the people of this district an alternative choice and a representative who will actually do things to improve the livelihood of the citizens who live here… oh and also because I actually grasp the issues.
