‼️Advance Notice Regarding the 2026-2027 School Calendar

We want to provide you with advance notice regarding the 2026-2027 school calendar.

Given the current circumstances surrounding the North Carolina Public School Calendar Law, the Anson County Board of Education has stated its intent to revise the 2026-2027 school calendar so that the school year begins no earlier than August 24, 2026.

While the revised calendar will not be formally considered and approved until July, we wanted to share this information now so that families may begin making plans accordingly. Once the Board takes final action, the approved calendar will be posted on the district website and shared through our regular communication channels.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this process and continue to keep our community informed.

From the halls of Anson High School to the NFL, Timmy Horne continues to show what is possible when talent, hard work, and a giving spirit come together.

A proud Anson High School graduate and former Bearcat football player, Timmy is a product of Anson County Schools and a shining example of the bright, capable, and successful students our public schools help develop. While his football journey has taken him to the Tennessee Titans, his heart has never left home.

Each year since entering the NFL, Timmy has returned to Anson County to pour back into the next generation through his youth football camp, proving that success isn't just about what you achieve, but how you use your gifts to serve others.

Public schools do more than educate students, they provide opportunities, build character, and help develop young people who leave our communities to accomplish great things while never forgetting where they came from.

Public schools don't just prepare students for careers, they prepare them for lives of purpose, leadership, and service. Timmy Horne is living proof.

We are incredibly proud of Timmy and grateful for the example he continues to set for our students. Once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat.

Two days of engaging professional learning with kindergarten and 1st grade teachers focused on implementing High-Leverage Practices (HLPs) to support students with disabilities.

High-Leverage Practices are research-based instructional strategies that help educators create effective, inclusive, and meaningful learning experiences. While designed to improve outcomes for students with disabilities, these practices benefit all learners by increasing engagement, access, and achievement.

This professional learning was facilitated by Anson County Schools staff who received specialized training through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's Office of Exceptional Children, helping build local capacity to support inclusive and effective instruction for all students.

We are excited to see these evidence-based strategies put into action as teachers continue building inclusive classrooms where every student is valued, supported, and empowered to thrive!
