The Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney is assisted by more than 50 Attorneys and support staff. Organization
The Magistrate Section is responsible for pre-trial litigation, Misdemeanor Trials, Felony Preliminary Hearings, and other proceedings before the County’s twelve Magistrates. The Juvenile Section handles Juvenile Offender cases before the Juvenile Referee and the Circuit Courts as well as Juvenile Abuse and Neglect cases in Circuit Court. The Felony Section handles pretrial litigation, plea negotiations, and Trials before the County’s eight Judges. The Grand Jury Section prepares and presents cases before the Grand Jury to be litigated in Circuit Court. The Executive Section acts as administration for the Agency including Supervision of all Legal Work, Budget and Finance, Human Resources, Public Information and relations, Law Enforcement Support, Victim Services, and Inter-agency Relations.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Antoine Deshawn Miller, 41, of Charleston, WV, was Sentenced to the maximum penalty of 82 to 90 Years in the Penitentiary today for violent gun crimes.

Miller was convicted of First Degree Robbery on March 23, 2026, by virtue of a Guilty Plea and later determined to be a Second Offense Recidivist.

According to court documents, on February 23, 2025, the Charleston Police Department responded to Grant Street, Charleston, Kanawha County, regarding a shooting. Once on scene, officers located the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Following a thorough investigation, detectives identified Nyasha Claytor, Jaquise Jackson, Kenneth Washington, Jaquan Shamar Evans, and Donovan Brown as the suspects involved, and discovered that the four individuals planned to commit robbery against the victim with the assistance of Antoine Deshawn Miller, who provided instruction to Claytor from South Central Regional Jail.

Claytor and Washington were each Sentenced to a maximum penalty of 20 Years in the Penitentiary, while Jackson was Sentenced to a maximum penalty of 10 Years in the Penitentiary on April 1, 2026. Evans and Brown were both sentenced on April 14, 2026. Evans received a suspended sentence of 10 Years and was placed at the Anthony Center. Donovan received a suspended sentence of 20 Years and was also placed at Anthony Center.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Madison Tuck prosecuted this case with the assistance of Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Krivonyak before the Honorable Maryclaire Akers, Circuit Judge.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – William Robert Selbe, 27, of Charleston, WV, was convicted today on Second Degree Murder by virtue of a Guilty Plea.

According to court documents, on June 19, 2024, the Charleston Police Department responded to a stabbing at 6414 MacCorkle Avenue S. E., Charleston, Kanawha County. The victim was found lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds to his abdominal area, which ultimately resulted in his death. The investigation revealed that Selbe had stabbed the victim during a physical altercation and fled the area. Detectives located Selbe at his address in Charleston, where he admitted to stabbing the victim.

Selbe is scheduled to be sentenced on May 15, 2026, and faces a maximum penalty of imprisonment in a state correctional facility for a definite term not less than ten nor more than forty years.

The Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney commends the investigative work and professionalism of the Charleston Police Department on this case.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Nyasha Michelle Claytor, 27, of Saint Albans, WV, Jaquise Isaiah Jackson, 21, of Charleston, WV, and Kenneth Eugene Washington, 29, of Nitro, WV, were sentenced on violent gun crimes today. Claytor and Washington were each Sentenced to a maximum penalty of 20 Years in the Penitentiary, while Jackson was Sentenced to a maximum penalty of 10 Years in the Penitentiary.
Claytor, Jackson, and Washington, as well as three additional co-conspirators, were each convicted of First-Degree Robbery by virtue of Guilty Pleas.
