Mary Middleton, a Direct Decendant of Henry & Arthur Middleton, trafficker of over 900 enslaved peoples has released her FULL solidarity statement with DEMANDS for the three most prominent Charleston plantations cede over 7,000 acres of their land to form a Gullah Geechee Reparations Land Reservation 🤝❤️🖤💚

If YOU would like to make an impact PLEASE DM us or leave a comment sharing your support for this necessary change! ➡️ We have started a solidarity list of biz, artists, organizations, groups, families, etc. who support! PLEASE DM ASAP to add the group(s) you represent's name. Historically plantations only care about $$$$$ and solidarity statements show where our community morales stand. If we get enough Charleston based organizations to sign on, we can really make this happen !! 📝📝📝

Lowcountry community members, biz owners, and residents pull up for this IMPORTANT conversation !! 🙇🏾‍♀️🙇🏾🙇🏽‍♂️📝💸🏦🏡🖤
-
TODAY, April 16th 4PM-6PM a meeting will be held at Gullah & Grooves to welcome the Optus Bank group and discuss the possibility of bringing a Black-owned bank presence to the Lowcountry.
-
This is bigger than just banking. It's about access - access to capital, home loans, business funding, investment opportunities, and financial resources that can help strengthen the community and expand what's possible for generations to come.
-
The economic impact of the community is real. The question is: how can a shift in power be better supported, better invested, and made more accessible right here in the Lowcountry?
-
For those who care about economic growth, ownership, opportunity, and the future of Black wealth in the region, this is a conversation worth being in the room for.
-
Gullah & Grooves
Thursday, April 16th 4 PM - 6PM
Located in Tanger Outlet
Pull up, get informed, and be part of the discussion! 🙏🏾

In the 1960s, photographer Elaine Tomlin documented riots, rural poverty, and the daily realities of the Civil Rights Movement. She later became the first woman to serve as an official photographer for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), founded by Martin Luther King Jr.
-
Taken during a 1968 uprising in Charleston, South Carolina, Tomlin shows a young Black woman being dragged by police, her face bloodied after being beaten.
Elaine Tomlin also photographed 18-year-old Dorothy Ann Richards, who was brutally beaten by two white state troopers.
-
During Women's History Month, how are we not only celebrating the women around us, but also commemorating the countless women who worked behind the scenes to shape history? How are we showing up for the Black women around us and honoring their legacies?
-
A silent contributor to history, Elaine Tomlin's work reminds us that the Civil Rights Movement was not only marches and speeches, it was violence, courage, and an unrelenting demand to be seen.

Somebody said HAPPY MELANATED MARCH !! 🥳🆙🙏🏾🌍👸🏿🤵🏾‍♂️🖤🤎
-
To honor Melanated March, Women's History Month, AND Black Futures Month we want to share this quote by the QUEEN - Aretha Franklin to Jet magazine in 1970 💜
-
"Angela Davis must go FREE ... Black people will be FREE. I've been locked up (for disturbing the peace in Detroit) and I know you got to disturb the peace when you can't get no peace. Jail is hell to be in. I'm going to see her free if there is any justice in our courts... she's a Black woman and she wants FREEDOM for Black people." ✊🏾🙇🏾‍♀️🌍🔓💜
