🌼Hispanic Heritage Month

For me, Hispanic Heritage Month is a reminder of my roots and who I am.

My heritage is a part of me that I deeply appreciate and carry with lots of pride. I’ve often reminded myself of the strength, values and traditions that have been passed down through generations.

This month we honor the history, culture and influence. Traditions live on in our families and our values.

I’ve been shaped by the generations of hard work, sacrifice, strength, and dedication. I am grateful for this. ❤️🇲🇽🇺🇸

The City of Ceres is excited to announce that work is beginning on our Citywide Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Video Detection and Public Safety Project.

Please plan ahead for any traffic delays!

🚦 CITYWIDE TRAFFIC TECHNOLOGY & PUBLIC SAFETY PROJECT BEGINS TODAY

The City of Ceres is excited to announce that work is beginning on our Citywide Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Video Detection and Public Safety Project.

Starting today, the City’s contractor will begin installing new equipment at signalized intersections throughout Ceres. These improvements will modernize the City’s traffic signal infrastructure, provide enhanced video detection and traffic monitoring capabilities, and support improved traffic operations and public safety throughout our community.

Construction and equipment installation are anticipated to continue through October.

🚧 Drivers should watch for temporary lane closures and traffic control at intersections throughout the City while this work is underway. Please slow down, follow posted signs, and use caution when traveling through active work areas.

We appreciate the community’s patience as we make these important investments in safer, smarter, and more efficient transportation infrastructure throughout Ceres.

🗣️Your thoughts matter.
Discussion items you should be a part of!

🔸Planning Commission Compensation

The Planning Commission voted to recommend that the City Council modify Planning Commission member compensation. Currently, it is $80 per month regardless of meeting attendance. The proposal would change this to $40 per meeting attended.

🔸Independence Park
Last year the play structure was destroyed by a fire. The City Council will consider replacement costs and funding options.

➡️Option 1: Cost- $134,000 (Use Insurance settlement). Will require $2,342 in additional City funding.

➡️Option 2: Cost-$122,000 City handles demolition and fully covered by insurance. Approximately $9,658 left in funding. This option may take city staff away from other duties such as maintaining parks.

➡️Option 3: Demolish now, delay the replacement and pursue additional funds from grant.

If you can’t attend, I’d still like to hear from you. Let me know your thoughts!

Across our country today communities came together to remember and honor the lives lost on 9/11.

Although we couldn’t attend our own local memorial, we were grateful to attend the Magic Valley 9/11 memorial in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Guest speaker, retired FDNY Battalion Chief John LaBarbera, was a New York City firefighter who responded to the attacks on September 11, 2001. Hearing him was a reminder of the courage and sacrifice made by so many on that day. The flag unfurling by the Twin Falls Flight Team, followed by a Black Hawk flyover by the Gowen Field Air Guard was beautiful.

This community experienced its own heartbreaking tragedy just over a month ago. To see Twin Falls come together today to remember and honor the lives lost on 9/11 was truly special. Even though we were away from home, we truly felt part of the Twin Falls community 🇺🇸

25 years ago today.

A day we should never forget. It was the most tragic event I had ever watched unfold on television but for so many, they weren’t watching it happen, they were living it. That day of terror changed our country.

We remember the innocent lives lost. We remember the families who have had to live without their loved ones. We remember the brave men and women who ran toward danger. The bravery of our firefighters, law enforcement officers, first responders, volunteers, and ordinary Americans who put others before themselves.

To our military, thank you for fighting for our freedoms and protecting our great country every day 🇺🇸

These are photos I will always look back on. In 2019, I stood at the 9/11 Memorial to pay my respects to those whose lives were lost. It was a somber place, but an absolutely beautiful and meaningful one.

On this day we remember not only the tragedy, but what came after. America was united.

Americans came together as one. Everyone stood together, supported one another, and that was a reminder of what it means to be American. 25 years later, we should continue striving for that same unity.

Today, we honor and remember 🇺🇸 Never forget.
