There is a lot of misleading information being circulated about the City of Centreville.
Most is being spread by people who have never, ever been involved in community events or people from out-of-town.
Some misinformation is even being spread by people who should know better but don’t.
For starters, the City is not “broke,” nor are we struggling financially. We are about the same as we usually are at this time of year.
Secondly, there were people who were almost hyperventilating waiting on the annual audit. Never before had this happened but, hey, it’s election season.
An audit is a look at the previous year. It shows you where you are and what you need to do to improve. The auditor will talk you through the entire process so you have an idea of the “big picture.” An auditor also gives suggested changes along the way. These changes can be implemented at any time so you don’t have to wait on the report. As a result, we began making changes in February/March to address findings in order to be both proactive and responsive.
Gladly, the changes we made have already made a tremendous difference in operations. We are in place to start a new fiscal year off with positive momentum.
I think I am arguably the most accessible public official in the county. You see me at church, restaurants, board meetings, ballgames, at city-sponsored events, booster club meetings, playing and singing at the nursing home or the Congregate and more. With over 30 years of elected service to Bibb County and Centreville, I have always prided myself on the fact that when people call or talk with me about an issue, I have always gotten back to them with an answer.
So, if you have any questions at all, about anything related to our city, I will be more than happy to address them for you. Go to the source and don’t buy into false information or listen to gossip.
As always, thank you for letting me serve you.

Secretary of State Wes Allen Reminds Alabamians to Register to Vote Before August 26th Municipal Elections

Montgomery, Ala.– Wes Allen, Alabama’s Secretary of State, reminds Alabama citizens that the deadline to register to vote before the August 26th Municipal Election is one week from today– Monday, August 11, 2025.

“The right of eligible United States citizens to cast a ballot in a fair and secure election is one of the hallmarks of our constitutional republic,” Allen said. “I encourage all eligible Alabama citizens to register to vote and to exercise that right on August 26th.”

Citizens with a valid Alabama driver license may register to vote electronically by visiting https://www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/voter/register-to-vote. A paper voter registration form may be delivered in person or by mail to your local Board of Registrars.

To be eligible to vote in Alabama, one must be a citizen of the United States, reside in Alabama, and be 18 years old on or before election day. One must not be barred from voting due to a disqualifying felony conviction or have been judged mentally incompetent by a court of law.

On election day, polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters are required to present a valid form of photo identification when voting at their polling place or by absentee ballot.

For questions about registering to vote in Alabama, please call the Elections Division of the Secretary of State’s office at 334-242-7210 or your local county Board of Registrars.

It’s election season! That means lots of visitations and seeing old friends and making new friends but it also means people will share “false” information.
When people start “telling you” how a person is, beware! I’ve recieved several calls about fake info concerning me. The good thing is that I’m probably the most accessible person around so people know me. And if you know me you know how I am. I take pride in treating others like I want to be treated and if you know me you know that’s the bottom line.
I’m not a “yes man,” and I will tell you how I feel or give you an honest answer to a question.
If you have questions or have heard anything that doesn’t quite feel right, call me.
The election for Mayor of Centreville is August 26, 7 am to 7pm. I’m asking for your vote to re-elect me as your mayor. Let’s continue the progress we’ve made over the last five years.

I have officially qualified for another term as mayor of Centreville.
To say it has been an honor to serve you would be an understatement. The opportunity to help our hometown in positive ways has been as rewarding as anything I’ve ever accomplished. This includes almost 40 years of service in the U.S. Army and Alabama Army National Guard, 23 years of service on our county board of education and being elected president of our Bibb County Schools Foundation and president of the Bibb County Chamber of Commerce. I worked hard to achieve these milestones and have represented Centreville and Bibb County, with class and character as well as elevating the profile of our city through media contacts and positive stories.
Anyone can see the improvements that have been made in our city and it’s no coincidence that it follows the plan I laid out when i ran for mayor in 2020.
I promised that we would approach this job with a positive and aggressive attitude, maximum effort, a positive mindset, acting responsibly and honestly, displaying integrity, kindness, and perseverance. This I have done with an upbeat attitude and commitment to make our hometown the best it can be.
I’m not perfect, far from it, but no one is going to outwork me, out-prepare me or outsmart me when it comes to this job. There is more I would like to see accomplished but it takes a team of committed individuals to make that happen and I’m absolutely looking for that to happen.
I’m looking for like-minded individuals to join with me in making Centreville more than a place to live and visit. I want it to be a state of mind. I’m asking for your vote of confidence on August 26 in our municipal elections. More to come!
