🚨 BREAKING 🚨

The Hickman County EMA Croc Relocation Team successfully returned a displaced Croc to the wild today.

The Croc was cooperative, no tranquilizers were required, and it was released back into its natural habitat.

Officials remind the public not to approach Crocs, especially during mating season or when Sport Mode is activated.

While we're joking about Crocs, we are serious about one thing: please do not approach wildlife. Bears, snakes, and other wild animals can be unpredictable and dangerous.

Stay safe, enjoy the outdoors, and remember—some animals bite, some sting, and some can eat you.

It's Saturday, and we all have faith that you can make it through the weekend without saying, "Oh yeah? Watch this!" and then immediately becoming a topic of discussion at Hickman-Centerville 911 Dispatch and the several first responders that get sent to your location.

Have an awesome Saturday, Hickman County! We love ya!

The Possum believes in you. 🦝

🌳🚜 Did You Know? 🚜🌳

The Hickman County Highway Department has employees on call after hours to help keep our roads safe and open. Whether it’s a fallen tree, storm damage, or other roadway hazards, these dedicated individuals are often called out when most of us are at home.

This photo was taken today as crews worked to clear a tree from a county road on a Saturday.

The Hickman County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents in the Duck River area to remain vigilant following an incident involving a wanted subject.

Earlier today, deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle in the Duck River area. The motorcycle fled from deputies. The motorcycle crashed and the rider fled on foot into a wooded area.

The motorcyclist has now been identified as Nicolas Sparkman, who has warrants out of Maury County and Hickman County.

At this time, it is unknown if he remains in the area or is armed. However, deputies will continue to maintain an increased presence in the area as a precaution.

If you observe any suspicious activity or believe you have information regarding his whereabouts, please contact Hickman County Dispatch immediately. (931)729-5146

Please do not approach the subject if seen. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in helping keep our community safe.

Today we had the opportunity to meet with FEMA and discuss some of the different — and sometimes unique — challenges disasters can bring to our communities. These meetings help ensure our county stays informed about available recovery resources and how we can better support our citizens during and after emergencies.

If you were impacted by the recent disaster and have not signed up for FEMA assistance yet, there is still time to apply. FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will continue rotating through impacted Tennessee counties to help residents with applications, questions, documentation, appeals, and recovery resources.

Temporary DRC Schedule

Tuesday, May 26, 2026 – Saturday, May 30, 2026
• Hickman County
• Sumner County
• Lewis County

Monday, June 1, 2026 – Saturday, June 6, 2026
• Macon County
• Montgomery County
• Lewis County

Additionally, the Davidson County fixed DRC will remain operational through June 6, 2026.

You do not have to visit a DRC in your home county to receive assistance.

If you receive a denial letter from FEMA, please do not assume you are automatically denied assistance. In many cases, FEMA may simply need additional information or documentation to continue processing your application. Make sure to read the letter carefully and follow up if needed.

You can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or visit a Disaster Recovery Center for in-person help.

Hickman County EMA and Hickman County 911 work closely with our volunteer fire departments to help ensure citizens receive the best possible response times.

Hickman County is a large county with roads and terrain that can sometimes be difficult to navigate. As our county continues to grow and change, it is vital that organizational leaders work together to build a stronger, safer, and faster emergency response system for the citizens we serve.

Hickman County EMA would like to remind everyone to protect yourself from ticks while enjoying the outdoors. A tiny tick bite can sometimes lead to serious long term health issues.

When spending time outside:
• Use insect repellent
• Wear long sleeves and pants when possible
• Check yourself, children, and pets for ticks after being outdoors
• Remove ticks promptly and correctly

Enjoy the outdoors, but take a few extra minutes to protect yourself and your family. Stay safe and stay aware.
