Cedar Rapids Firefighters Foundation Our mission is to have a direct impact on the social, physical, and mental welllbeing of families.

The Cedar Rapids Firefighters Foundation was created in 2012 and is managed by firefighters and civilians who volunteer their service and are dedicated to helping children and firefighters living in Iowa. Our foundation hosts several fundraisers throughout each year and participates in many memorials, services and activities throughout the state. Following many successful years of providing suppor

t and charitable donations to Iowans, we decided to create our 501c (3) non-profit to better assist our endeavors. While Iowa citizens are well aware of the professional skills and care provided to them by firefighters, our foundation wishes to enhance our presence within the community. To date, our foundation has donated over $150,000 back to organizations that assist children living in Iowa.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 23, 2026! Join the Cedar Rapids Firefighters Foundation for our favorite Memorial Day weekend tradition.
Whether you’re running the 5K, participating in the wheelchair race, or cheering on the little ones in the Jr. Firefighter Kids Fun Run, we want to see you there!
All proceeds support the CRFD Memorial 5K Run/Walk and help us care for fallen and ill firefighters and their families across Iowa.

What: 2025 Cedar Rapids Fire Bowl
When: August 16th, 2025
Time: Event will kick off at 11, doors will open at 10 for check-ins and warm-up.
Where: Volley’s on Blairs Ferry

Why: To support St. Florian Fire and Burn Foundation!

What to know for Registration-

Team Registration fee: $300 for a team of 6, payment must be paid in full. -registration fee includes a T-Shirt prior to June 23rd. Any team registration after this day may not be eligible for a T-shirt and fee increases to $360. ONLY TWO additional players may be added to a team of 6 for $50 per player.

We are taking the first 30 teams that sign-up. We will have a wait list, if necessary.

**Day of Event Drawing: Each team will be entered for a “waived” entry fee for the 2026 Fire Bowl. The first 10 teams to sign-up will get an ancillary entry into the drawing. **

This is a family friendly event! We hope to see many of you there!!

We are proud and thankful to have Shannon as one of our longest tenured board members. Thank you for all you do for us and continue to do for our community Shannon!

Meet Shannon, a retired Cedar Rapids police officer whose story highlights the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms, especially during National Stroke Awareness Month.

In December 2022, Shannon experienced a sudden and severe headache. She felt nauseous and began losing consciousness. Recognizing something was very wrong, her friends called 911. She was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and was soon diagnosed with a hemorrhagic stroke caused by high blood pressure at the age of 44.

Shannon underwent surgery, spent time in the ICU, and began her road to recovery. She turned to the dedicated team at St. Luke's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for her care, the same team that helped her recover from spinal tumor surgery in 2019.

Now, 17 months post-stroke, Shannon is enjoying life to the fullest and grateful for her care. She remains a passionate advocate for stroke awareness, emphasizing the need to recognize all types of strokes, including hemorrhagic ones.
