Greetings LISD Families, WatchDOGS, WatchDOGS Coordinators, and Administrators

First of all… WOW!

We were astounded by the fantastic show of support of the WatchDOGS program at last night’s event.

LISD now holds the record for the largest single WatchDOGS Pizza Kickoff in the World.

We had such an amazing turn out of almost 2,700 people, which eclipsed our RSVP list of 1,980 people. Overall we consumed a total of 377 pizzas last night, with an original delivery of 250 from 3 different stores.

The winners of the Alien Awards were Knowles Elementary, Reagan Elementary, and Stiles Middle School. Dr. Champion presented each school with a life-sized alien to take back to their campus.

We want to thank our three major sponsors for their support of WatchDOGS at LISD.

Pizza Hut and the Texas Stars donated all of the pizza and drinks for the event.

The Austin Planetarium brought out their mobile planetarium, provided a host of incredible exhibits, took us on a trip through the galaxy and beyond, and was instrumental in engaging the exhibitors we had at the event.

The following groups provided the interactive exhibits for the event:
Austin Astronomical Society
Austin Community College Hands On Science (ACCHaoS)
Austin Planetarium
Girlstart
Learning Fun 101 (LEGO Robotics)
Texas Space Grant Consortium
UT Austin College of Natural Sciences
UT Physics Circus

We will be discussing the lessons we learned from this first event, to improve next year’s event. We’ll have faster sign-in and pizza service, improved coordination, event communication, and more WatchDOGS specific content.

If you need information about WatchDOGS at LISD and don’t know who to contact, drop us a note on the LISD WatchDOGS page at www.facebook.com/LISDWatchdogs. We can assist with directing you to the appropriate contact.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the next event. Be sure to keep an eye on our page for WatchDOGS news and events.
