WATER AND SEWER DEPARTMENT HYDRANT FLUSHING IN PROGRESS

Photographed within just days of final delivery in March, this 78-foot Rosenbauer quint on a Warrior Chassis now proudly serves the City of Cedar Key, Florida. This small, secluded coastal city presents several very unique challenges for Cedar Key Fire Rescue, a single-station volunteer department operated by a handful of residents of the town. The town consists of several varying-style houses including stilt homes, commercial buildings including waterfront businesses and boardwalk-style structures, a school, and a small airport. The only way in or out of Cedar Key is a long rural stretch of State Road 24, and beyond very limited part-time resources that may or may not be available from Levy County, the next arriving companies to an incident of any consequence in Cedar Key is likely the City of Chiefland - at least a half-hour away. Cedar Key Fire Rescue now operates this quint as Quint 75, in addition to a commercial chassis Rosenbauer pumper, a 2800-gallon elliptical tanker, a small QRV mini-pumper for the airport, a brush truck, and a boat. This quint replaces the 1993 Spartan/LTI quint acquired from Clearwater Fire many years ago.
