Tonight I was thinking about why I decided to run for District Clerk.
Not the campaign version. Not the forum speech. Not the bullet points.
The real reason.

For over a decade, I’ve worked inside our local legal system — first as a paralegal, then as a Deputy District Clerk. I’ve seen the late nights. The frustrated attorneys. The confused residents. The overworked staff. The inefficiencies that make simple things harder than they should be.
In my career I have also seen what happens when leadership is present, supportive, and willing to embrace change. That's the culture I want for the deputy clerks.
This race isn’t about politics for me. It’s about stewardship.
It’s about respecting taxpayer dollars. It’s about supporting the staff who keep the wheels turning. It’s about making sure residents can actually access the system that serves them. It’s about doing the job well — every single day.
Bastrop isn’t just where I work. It’s where I’ve built my life. It’s where my husband and I have grown up and then together since I was 20. It’s where we raised our son. It’s home.
And home is worth showing up for.
