Ludington is huge! The dunes are expansive and breathtaking. We enjoyed hiking to the lighthouse, walking/scootering the river trail, and playing at the Hamlin Lake playground. The trip was made easier by Grandma and Grandpa who drove up from Lansing to watch the boys while we packed up from Mears and set up at Ludington.

Well everyone, camping with two littles is no joke. 😅 Whenever we take a trip and leave home with the kids, we equate the experience to that of parenting at an away game. We’re not on our own turf, and we have to learn an entirely new playing field.

Kai (1) is a notorious and unapologetic squawker. Loren (2) is a full-on toddler, albeit a truly remarkable one, but prone to the occasional meltdown. I’m sure our camp neighbors love us. 😂 There have been many moments of stress, but the moments of peace and joy have had far greater significance. 

Kai tried his first s’more, and wasn’t a fan of the gooey marshmallow. We built sandcastles, climbed sand dunes, scootered around town and down to the harbor. We hiked out to the pier and played on all the playgrounds. It was a magical trip.

Prepping the 16’ Caravel for our first trip of the summer! Kai is ready to go! He’ll be sleeping in his pack n’ play on the collapsed dinette. ⭐️ Crazy hair brought to you by big brother who dumped a bucket of water on Kai’s head moments before this photo. 🤣

We did it! Our first camping trip of the season and Kai’s first camping trip ever. We had a great time and can’t wait to do it again although camping with two kids under two years old is a very unique adventure and experience. Loren loved riding his bike all over the campground and Kai loved looking at the trees and feeling the breeze. We already have our next trip booked for July and are scheming about sneaking another weekend trip in even sooner.

Baby Kai is here! 😍 We’ve been a family of 4 since March 4, 2022. ❤️

We are excited to take both boys camping this summer. I’m sure these years with 2 under 2 won’t be the easiest camping years of our lives, but we have no doubt they will be full of some of our most precious memories. 💙💙

Yes, we are still keeping our 16 foot Caravel. (I know some of you were going to ask that lol). 🤪

Our last trip of the season got cut short from illness. Loren came down with a fever which turned out to be hand foot mouth. 😢 This photo was taken just as we were heading home, right before Loren’s bedtime. He was feeling pretty miserable, as you can see in this picture.

This was our 12th Michigan State Park as a family of 3. The next time we camp, we will be a family of 4!!! Baby boy arrives in March. Our 16’ Airstream Caravel is about to get even cozier. 🤪

Chelsea’s family has been camping here as long as she can remember. Her mom was 4 months old when she took her first trip and Chelsea was 9 months old. Now it’s Loren’s turn. This little almost-one-year old got to visit the infamous family camping trip location of Harrisville State Park in Michigan. Of course it was a hit because Loren adores the beach and playing in the water. 😊

This was our 11th Michigan State Park as a family of three.
