Carpinteria’s Community Services Program Director Jena Jenkins recently spoke about healthy aging in men at the National Council on Aging’s National Conference in Arlington, Virginia.

Jenkins’ topic, “From Isolation to Connection: Programming Specialized for Aging Men,” helped participants learn actionable approaches to improve mental health, increase participation and foster stronger social connections among older men in community and organizational settings, according to a press brief from Carpinterian Lisa Guravitz.

Amy guided a wonderful afternoon of gentle movement, stretching, and relaxation with a full group of participants. We’re so happy to see our community embracing this new offering and taking time to slow down, breathe, and care for themselves together.

This Thursday! You’re invited on May 21st at 1:00 PM to the Veterans Memorial Building courtyard for a fun Public Works Picnic. Enjoy a meet and greet with Public Works Director and City Engineer, John Ilasin, along with a casual picnic provided by AgeWell. Guests can view equipment such as a street sweeper and backhoe, meet Public Works staff, and enjoy raffle prizes. This is a great opportunity to connect with the team that keeps our community running.

We had a wonderful turnout, and it was beautiful to see our community come together to slow down, stretch, and relax.

Join us for the next class on Monday, May 18 at 3:00pm at AgeWell in the Veterans Hall.

Materials are limited, so we recommend arriving early or bringing your own mat, bolster, and blanket for extra comfort.
