Being our program manager is one of many hats that Justin wears. For his day job he is the Planning Coordinator for Cumberland County Department of Public Safety. Justin is the President of the Union Fire Company in Carlisle and has severed over 30 years in the fire service. He is also the liaison to Cumberland County Local Emergency Planning Committee and Safe Schools program. We are incredibly fortunate to have him advising our team.

Our Spring 26 Accelerated CERT Basic course began today. Students learned the principals of the CERT program, took a tour of the Emergency Operations and 911 centers, and got to work on a team building exercise! We will pick up on Thursday with disaster first aid, disaster psychology, triage, and radiological considerations.

This week’s member spotlight is Chris! Chris’s career being as a power plant operator & instrument and control technician, he has extensive training in electrical and industrial safety. He has held certifications in first aid, CPR, confined space entry, and SCBA use. He was a plant fire brigade member and regularly operated tractors, fork lifts, cranes and man-lift equipment. Before joining CERT900, Chris was previously a member of the NRG Energy nationwide CERT team. He has attended CERT and search & rescue training at the New Jersey State Police headquarters and also a multiday training exercise at the Harris County Sheriff training grounds in Texas. He is a member at large on our team. Chris is a jack of all trades, master of many; and when you go into the field with Chris, you know he has your back.
