If the old Root Hall has a special place in your memories, the Foundation managed to recover a limited number of bricks from the demolition. We had our vendor add a metal plate and a felt bottom to this commemorative brick. Demolition work is underway at Root Hall! This area will become green space. The class plaques and stained glass gifts that were in Bliss and outside Root Hall are in storage until the U.S. Army War College Alumni Hall and Park is ready.

The Army War College Foundation continues to raise funds for the U.S. Army War College Alumni Hall & Park. We are well on our way to our fundraising goal and construction is slated to begin any day now! The Foundation is proud to continue it's mission of service to the Alumni of the College with this physical representation of the importance of all of our alumni and faculty.

Just a reminder that submissions of college scholarship applications for children of Distance Class graduates or Resident Class graduates who are lifetime members of the Foundation are due on Monday, March 2. Scholarship range from $500 to $1500. More details and the application can be found at usawc.org/scholarship-application/

Anton Myrer's birthday was earlier this week. He would have been 103. And the Foundation Gift Shop continues to sell his novel Once An Eagle at a record pace the past few months due to it's mention in a Amazon Prime TV series. We'd like to think he would be pleased at his continued impact. “You can’t help what you were born and you may not have much to say about where you die, but you can and you should try to pass the days in between as a good man.”

Anton Myrer was born on this day in 1922. A United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he is the author of ONCE AN EAGLE, a book I gave to leaders in the SEAL Teams as they began their service in the profession of arms. You may also have noticed James Reece gift a copy to Ben Edwards in DARK WOLF.

Of the many valuable lessons from the pages of this poignant and timeless novel, this line rings particularly true: “You can’t help what you were born and you may not have much to say about where you die, but you can and you should try to pass the days in between as a good man.”
