See: Modesto Community Building rental info & Modesto Talk, this is Modesto, Illinois. Modesto celebrated our Centennial in 1996 which makes us relatively young for a village in this rural area. Story goes that we were named after Modesto, California. One of our founding fathers had taken a trip out west and had so admired the California town that he suggested we adopt the name Modesto. We are the only other one in the nation.

The town lost 91 year old citizen Donald Gibbs this week. Private graveside services will be held next week when he is laid to rest with his Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles.
