Resident meeting with the Sheriff this Friday!

Your voice matters. Please join us on Friday, December 15th, 9-10am at Glen Park To meet with Captain Lawerence and learn about what programs the city and our sheriff's department have put in place to help keep our community safe. The Sheriff will answer questions regarding crime prevention and provide an opportunity to learn about the hope team which is one of our city resources.

Last month our Cardiff business owners met with Captain Lawrence and had a successful discussion regarding how to safely interact with the homeless population. This is your chance as a resident in the community to have your voice heard and understand the law.

For further questions connect with Captain Lawrence at [email protected]

Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council wants to thank everyone who participated in, attended, and helped with our Cardiff Election Forums this year. We are pleased we had a full house yesterday!

Cardiff Town Council made quite a few changes to our format this year. This was our first forum as part of Cardiff 101. We selected an independent freelance journalist, Steve Wyer, to moderate the forum. Steve and our forum standing committee reviewed questions asked by the public, and formulated the questions Steve asked. Steve fact checked the questions. The questions were asked without bias, and focused on the issues our Cardiff and Encinitas communities care most about.

This is the first time our in person forum was broadcast (live streamed). The Coast News was the only news organization who accepted our offer to live stream. They came with a "locals helping locals attitude" - helping with the sound system as well. We could not have asked for a more helpful can-do team. Unfortunately, there were issues with the sound - we are all learning, and improving. The Cardiff School District gave us their space, set-up help, sound system, and microphones. They were great partners in making sure we had everything we needed.

Cardiff Town Council takes community input seriously and expect our format will evolve and videography/sound will improve next time we broadcast. We are excited to review the new Multipurpuse facility at Cardiff Elementary as a possible future venue.

Please click the link below to listen to the Cardiff Election Forum for District 3 City Council Member, from Monday, Oct 3rd.

We thank our local newspaper, The Coast News for live streaming and recording this forum. Unfortunately, they lost their professional videographer at the last minute and had to resort to using an iPhone and its internal microphone to record. We apologize for the sound quality. Coast News is working on improving this for our upcoming Mayoral Forum on Oct. 10th.

You may find it helpful to turn on Closed Captioning "CC" on the Youtube menu that appears on the lower right of the video when you hover your mouse over the video.
