May is a meaningful month of awareness, honoring Military Appreciation, Military Caregiver Awareness, and Mental Health Awareness. It is a time to recognize the sacrifices made by service members, the unwavering support provided by military caregivers and families, and the importance of mental wellness for all. These awarenesses remind us to lead with compassion, offer support where it’s needed, and give thanks for the strength, resilience, and dedication shown by so many every day.

Jeff Long, an Army Veteran & member of VFW Post 12219, was awarded a Quilt of Valor this past Thursday. This is not just a quilt. Each Quilt of Valor is hand made and awarded to a Service Member or Veteran touched by war.

I have watched a few veterans receive a QoA and each time I was filled with gratitude for their sacrifice to our country, however Jeff’s was different. I personally know Jeff so I was filled with not only gratitude but pride. I am proud to be able to call Jeff my friend. And what is even better, his wife Brittney Long, is our very own Junior Vice President!

Thank you Jeff for your service in the war and the difference you make now to struggling veterans!
