One Thursday afternoon in Luanda, the city breathed its warm ocean air around us as I visited my cousin Emelda Cativa with my boys, their grandmother, and their aunt Helen Kasusuma. Emelda, radiant in her quiet grace, and my brother‑in‑law Cativa, steady and kind, welcomed us with the warmth only family can give. Their three beautiful children moved through the home like beams of joy, filling every corner with laughter.

They prepared a comforting soul‑food meal — the kind that tastes of memory, of heritage, of hands that cook with love. And before our visit came to an end, they placed in my hands a stunning, hand‑crafted baobab tree — Africa’s iconic “Tree of Life.” Each fruit on the tree was engraved with my name and my boys’ names, and the trunk was hand‑printed with a beautiful personal message, every curve shaped softly and intentionally by a human hand.

As I traced the carvings, a familiar ache rose gently within me — a memory of the artwork my father once shaped with such care, before illness left the left side of his body without much strength. The baobab felt like a whisper from him, a soft echo of his creativity, his resilience, and the beauty he poured into the world.

In that gift, I felt the weight of our ancestors, the strength of our roots, and the tenderness of family who hold you close even across oceans and years. It was a gesture that made the day sacred, a keepsake my boys and I will treasure for a lifetime.

May God bless cousin Emelda and her beautiful family for their kindness, their generosity, and the love they poured into that unforgettable afternoon.

Great job, Little Crusaders, with a strong 31–6 win over Canton South. Even with the rain coming down, the team stepped onto the field determined and full of energy. It was a beautiful Saturday scene — parents seated on the benches, umbrellas in hand, supporting our boys with unwavering pride. #77 Jason

God’s design rose before me in the quiet majesty of nature. Standing upon the rocks, I watched Lake Erie turn in great circles, its waters carried by the breath of heaven. The grass bowed and lifted, swaying like a living hymn in the wind. Above me, gray clouds drifted with solemn purpose, gathering their strength. In that moment, I felt the sky preparing to open, and I could almost hear the angels lifting their drums, ready to let creation echo with their rhythm. To witness such beauty — such power shaped by God’s own hand — was a blessing that settled gently upon my spirit.

Central Catholic High School — Future Crusaders Night

Under the glow of Friday‑night lights, the Central Catholic High School Crusaders faced Northwest in a game filled with heart and tradition. When our boys crossed the goal line for their first touchdown, even the geese above seemed to feel the electricity — sweeping across the sky as if offering their own wild cheer for the Crusaders.

At halftime, the field transformed into a runway of dreams as our future Crusaders — young boys and girls with boundless energy — raced through the stadium. Their laughter, their pride, their tiny footsteps echoing across the turf created a moment as beautiful as any victory. It was a glimpse of tomorrow, carried in the joy of our children.

The final score may not have favored us, but the night itself was rich with spirit, closeness, and community. A near win, an unforgettable evening, and a celebration of who we are.

I had the opportunity to volunteer at the GOP Booth at the Stark County Fair. It was wonderful to see The Stark County Republican Party Chair, Mrs. Janet Creighton; the Honorable Richard Regula, Stark County Commissioner; and all the dedicated volunteers. It was truly inspiring to witness the strong momentum and enthusiasm surrounding our Republican candidates as we approach the November General Election. The engagement from community members and the commitment demonstrated by fellow volunteers reflect a deep dedication to civic participation and the values that guide our work. Stop by the GOP Booth and learn more about the Republican slate. 🇺🇸

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, following Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, I wandered through the Central Catholic High School Grotto and its peaceful gardens — a sanctuary of quiet wonder. The statues of Jesus and Mary, and the Stations of the Cross standing in solemn reverence, invited a moment of stillness and prayer. Along the winding pathways, birds sang softly above the trees, flowers lifted their bright faces to the sun, and the gentle greenery swayed like a living hymn. Even the small green frog resting upon its leaf bed felt like part of the day’s blessing. In every corner, I felt the presence of strong faith, cherished tradition, and the deep sense of community that makes Central Catholic such a sacred and beloved place.
