Meet the Giant Acorn Barnacle! Here at Haystack Rock, we are lucky enough to see this alien-looking animal during low tides. Most people see barnacles when they are out of the water, and don’t fully see how special they are. Barnacles are a great reminder to pay attention to your surroundings and look closely, sometimes the most fascinating things are more common than you think.

Aggregating Anemones are one of the coolest creatures we find in the tide pools at Haystack Rock, and one of the most overlooked. These animals are amazing, and oftentimes easy to step on. Remember to always watch where you’re stepping while navigating tide pools, there could be hundreds of animals where you never thought to look 🌊
