🐴 Equine Emergency Evacuation Resources in Yavapai County 🚨

Last week, personnel from the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office met with members of the Equine Emergency Evacuation Team to learn more about the valuable services they provide to horse and livestock owners throughout Yavapai County.

Wildfires, floods, severe weather, and other emergencies can develop quickly, leaving animal owners with limited time to relocate their animals to safety. The Equine Emergency Evacuation Team serves as a critical resource by assisting with the coordination and transportation of horses and other livestock during emergency situations.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office encourages all animal owners to prepare an emergency evacuation plan before disaster strikes. Having transportation arrangements, veterinary records, identification information, and emergency contacts readily available can help ensure a safe and efficient evacuation when every minute counts.

We appreciate the Equine Emergency Evacuation Team for taking the time to share information about their mission and the resources available to our community. Partnerships like these help strengthen emergency preparedness and improve the safety of both residents and their animals.

For more information about emergency preparedness for your animals, stay connected with local emergency management agencies and community partners throughout Yavapai County.

Did you know APS may shut off power during high wildfire risk conditions?

This is called a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) — and it’s a last-resort safety measure to reduce the chance of wildfires starting from electrical equipment.

APS looks at several factors before making the call, including high winds, dry vegetation, extreme heat, and how easily a fire could spread in current conditions.

Make sure you’re ready before a planned or unplanned outage occurs.

Visit YavapaiReady.gov/Outage for tips on being prepared. You can also visit aps.com/PSPS to see if you're in a PSPS area and see additional tips and resources for being prepared.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office continues to work in partnership with MATFORCE and community partners throughout Yavapai County to educate the public, reduce drug abuse, and save lives.

Personnel from the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office recently attended a MATFORCE meeting where current overdose statistics showed that methamphetamine toxicity is currently the number one cause of overdose deaths in Yavapai County to date, with fentanyl-related deaths remaining a close second.

Drug addiction impacts families, friends, and our entire community. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, please know there are resources and treatment options available. Organizations such as MATFORCE, Yavapai County Health Services, and other community partners are committed to helping individuals and families find support, recovery, and hope.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office remains committed to working with our community to reduce overdoses, remove dangerous drugs from our streets, and protect the health and safety of our citizens.
