Just some of our Work Based Learning Students on the Job! Thanks to our partnership with The Mitchell County Housing Authority and Bostick Nut Farms, our students are getting real world hands on training. With over 50 students participating in the program, we can definitely say we have a supportive business community here in Southwest Georgia.

Happy National Teachers Day to the best of the best. Our superstar instructional staff work day in and day out to provide career and technical education to our students through some of the most innovative experiential learning practices. They constantly amaze and inspire!!!

Congratulations to our Senior CNA students who completed their Clinicals last week at the Archbold Living Facility in Camilla. Thank you to our partners at Archbold for hosting our students and giving them a real world nursing experience. All of our Senior CNA students plan to continue their studies in healthcare science through post secondary education, with a final goal of becoming Registered Nurses.

One step closer to test day and a State CNA License.

Congratulations!!!

Senior student Christian Smith, FFA President, officially signed with Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College to begin his post secondary journey to become an Agriculture Educator. Christian plans to complete his 4 year Bachelors degree program through ABAC and return to teach for the Mitchell County School System.

Students Alexander Toombs, Emma Pilgrim, and Betzzy Bravo all received their State Level FFA Degrees on Friday at the 96th Annual State FFA Convention in Macon. We are very excited for these students and the commitment they have shown in their Career
& Technical Student Organization.

CCA students from Graphic Communication & Audio/Video, along with the Mitchell County Highschool Eagle News Team were treated to an industry tour of the WALB studios in Albany. Students were able to see a behind the scenes look at the entire operation of a new broadcast station. Students heard from different departments within WALB that included the anchors, producers, marketing, sales, and technical staff. They were able to see what it takes to make the entire process flawless when it appears on television. The staff at WALB could not have been more inviting and encouraging to our students. Congratulations on 70 years of serving the Southwest Georgia Community WALB, and thank you for making our students future brighter!

Our CEO, Mr. Wilkes, was honored to participate in the recertification of the Chattahoochee Valley College and Career Academy. The recertification process is an important part of the TCSG's College and Career Academy Network's accountability structure. Other partners that participated were Ignite College and Career Academy, Thinc College and Career Academy, and the Charter System Foundation.

Chattahoochee Valley CCA hosted an exciting day where students, faculty, administration, parents, and businesses all came together to tell their story. They have a very successful program to be proud of, with an amazing student body! It was a pleasure to be a Panther for the day.

Our Agriculture students learned how to age deer and score deer antlers, 4 of these same students will compete in the Wildlife management competition on November 14th. Today’s class was taught by our amazing partners at Southern Regional Technical College!

Thank you to all the vendors who continue to support the effort of bringing Business & Education together. Its events like the 2nd annual Southwest Georgia College and Career Fair that shows real dedication to this idea. We had over 50 vendors participate this year and fun was had by all. The students from Mitchell and Baker County Highschool asked great questions and made connections with several different industries that included: automotive technology, welding, pipe fitting, electrical, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, healthcare science, business & administration, cosmetology, long haul trucking, law and public safety, civil service, agriculture, manufacturing, and others.

A special thanks to our Student Ambassadors who organized and ran the event for us: Christian Smith, Jerimiah Florence, Terry Martin, Keniyah Weston, and Kayla Anderson.

SWOEGA CCA Welding students took on a local project this week repairing a trailer for a community member. Students are putting their oxy-fuel cutting techniques to the test!
