I am an advocate for supporting our Port Hueneme businesses. Shopping local helps keep our tax dollars in the City. I also love getting to know our local business owners who are an important part of our community.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Johnny, owner of Cloud9 Tea and Dessert who just took over Cloud9 three months ago, and Anna with Professional Nails; both for supporting my Meet and Greet at the Mandalay Bay Shopping Center on Channel Islands Boulevard. The City of Port Hueneme Public Works Department recently completed improvements along Pleasant Valley Road to enhance parking and pedestrian safety. The project included a new road surface, 13 additional parking spaces, a new high-visibility crosswalk, and brighter, longer-lasting thermoplastic pavement markings. These improvements will help create a safer and more accessible roadway for residents, pedestrians, and motorists.

Fun time today at Fiestas Patrias celebrating Mexican Independence in Downtown Oxnard today. It was heartwarming to see so many families and young children dressed up in honor of Mexican Independence Day! I love the diversity and the many cultural influences we have in our communities throughout Ventura County. Today we celebrate everything Mexican! It's a huge part of who we are!
