Honoring our flag. Honoring our freedom. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

2026 Flag Day was marked with a special flag retirement ceremony in commemoration of our country's semiquincentennial. Founder of local nonprofit Retire Your Old Glory, Denise Etter hosted the event in partnership with Cranberry Township to honorably retire American flags that are no longer fit for service.

Guests were invited to bring flags for retirement, alongside thousands of flags that have been donated to Retire Your Old Glory over the past 15 years. Firefighters from the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company assisted as members of the VFW Post #879 and Boy Scout Troop #406 brought flags to the ceremonial pyre.

Volunteers and supporters from the Blue Star Mothers of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution - Kushkushkee Chapter joined Etter for the ceremony, alongside Representative Mike Kelly, Senator Elder Vogel, and the Honorable Kevin Flaherty.

Township supervisors Anthony Bertolino & Bruce Mazzoni, Township manager Dan Santoro, and Township staff also attended to pay their respects and retire flags of their own.

Thank you to everyone who attended and brought their flags for retirement - and a very special thank you to Denise Etter for all her tireless efforts & dedication into making such a beautiful ceremony possible.

The Graham Park fishing pond is stuffed to the gills with fish! ๐ŸŸ Dozens of new blue gills, bass, and minnows were added to the pond this week, thanks to our hard-working grounds crews.

Graham Park's fishing pond is catch & release - a recreational form of fishing in which the fish is safely returned to the pond after being caught by fishers. It's an ethical and fun way to fish that can help conserve fish populations, protect our aquatic ecosystems, and promote sustainable fishing.

An Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee continues discussing the potential for a Recreation & Engagement Facility in the Township.

The Board of Supervisors recently approved the purchase of property at Rochester Road and Thompson Park Drive. This purchase followed a year of exploration by the Committee, as well as a feasibility study that included a market analysis, program development, and a financial forecast.

With the project still in the early planning phase, the Board of Supervisors is seeking resident feedback on these conceptual renderings. See them in person at the Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road, and be sure to scan the QR code to provide feedback!
