“Today is Memorial Day. Make it meaningful.”

Today, members of our community gathered to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

We extend our sincere gratitude to American Legion Post 79 and American Legion Post 336 for hosting today’s ceremonies and ensuring that the memory of our fallen heroes remains at the forefront of our community. Their dedication to preserving the meaning of this day helps remind us that the freedoms we enjoy were secured through extraordinary courage, selflessness, and sacrifice.

As we spend time with family and friends, may we also take a moment to reflect on those who never made it home and the loved ones they left behind. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We remember. We honor. We are grateful.

Due to the forecasted weather conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Memorial Day Parade and outdoor ceremony.

While we are disappointed not to gather as planned, we encourage our community to continue honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. The following Memorial Day observances will still take place:

🇺🇸 The American Legion Post 79 Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Memorial Hall (across from City Hall) at 8:30 a.m.

🇺🇸 The American Legion Post 336 Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held at 449 Linden Avenue at 12:00 p.m.

We appreciate everyone's understanding and support. For our young residents who were looking forward to participating in the bike parade, stay tuned for future opportunities to decorate your bikes and show off your creativity.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day as we remember and honor our nation's heroes!

We are just one week away from the Memorial Day Parade & Kids Bike Parade! Be sure to register your child to take part in this special event. Children are invited to decorate their bikes, ride along in the parade, and after the ceremony, they’ll have a chance to win a prize.

Join us as we walk, and ride, in remembrance and honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This year’s parade route will be slightly different, with an added stop at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Cemetery to honor the 14 Revolutionary War soldiers buried there. The parade will conclude at the bandstand along the river with a brief ceremony.
