We at the Braddock District office wish to extend a warm welcome to Virginia Railway Express new CEO Katie Choe! We look forward to working with you and continuing the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors' partnership with VRE.

VRE is pleased to announce the selection of Katie Choe as Chief Executive Officer, following approval from the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC) and Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) at their respective board meetings this evening.

With 25 years of program management and safety oversight leadership in the transportation sector, Choe brings a wealth of experience closely aligned to VRE’s mission. Most recently, Choe served as the Chief of Staff to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. Choe has also served as chief engineer for the City of Boston Public Works, and as a program manager at Massport, the Massachusetts Port Authority. In these roles, Choe delivered numerous major infrastructure projects with an emphasis on safety and quality. In 2022, she was named WTS-Boston’s Woman of the Year.

Choe’s appointment comes after a nationwide search and selection process conducted over the course of several months. She will begin her role as CEO on January 20, 2026.

The Fairfax County Restoration Project will host their annual Americana Drive Veterans Day Cleanup event in Annandale tomorrow (Tuesday, November 11) from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Sign up online: www.fcrpp3.org/annandale-clean-up-sign-in

The check-in table will be at the corner of Patriot and Americana Drives. Trash bags and other cleanup tools will be provided. This is a good opportunity for students to earn community service hours!
