Firefighter Cancer Support Network, California

Firefighter Cancer Support Network, California We support firefighters, EMS providers and their families when diagnosed with occupational cancer We do not provide legal or medical advice.

We provide critical assistance for career or volunteer, active or retired firefighters, emergency medical service providers, and their immediate family members who have been diagnosed with cancer. We deliver valuable post-diagnosis resources followed by unique badge to badge, one-on-one mentorship from one of our 220 fire-service mentors who have first-hand knowledge about battling cancer. They s

hare their survivor’s journey about their particular types of cancer, their own experiences with testing and treatments, and offer valuable insight into the recovery process. Within days, we deploy an FCSN signature toolbox free of charge. Our toolbox contains valuable resources, including our comprehensive Firefighter’s Guide to Cancer Survivorship, to help you stay organized, informed, and effectively communicate with your doctors, loved ones, and brothers and sisters in the fire service. Most importantly, the toolbox will remind you every day that you are not alone. Our dedicated team will be by you and your family’s side from diagnosis, through treatment to recovery. Disclaimer: The Firefighter Cancer Support Network is a volunteer group of cancer survivors, whose objective is to provide timely support to Fire Department employees (and immediate family members) diagnosed with any form of cancer, or who are dealing with ongoing cancer issues. Our mission is to provide comfort, strength and hope through our own personal experiences. We will also provide other support options such as the Department Chaplains, Behavioral Health Services and other cancer support programs. The Firefighter Cancer Support Network California was honored to provide education to the Chief Officers and Company Officers of the San Manuel Fire Department on leadership’s critical role in reducing occupational cancer risks within their agency. 🚒🛡️

This training was made possible through the generous support of the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, whose continued commitment to firefighter health and wellness is helping drive meaningful cultural change throughout the fire service. 🤝❤️

Cancer prevention is not just a talking point — it must be embedded into leadership, operations, training, and accountability every day. 📚⚠️🧼 When leadership prioritizes firefighter health, it sends a clear message that protecting personnel is part of the mission.

By prioritizing education, prevention, and the long-term health of their personnel, San Manuel Fire Department is truly “Doing It Right” ✅ and leading by example in protecting those who serve their community. 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

The FCSN remains committed to supporting firefighters through education, prevention, and resources focused on reducing occupational cancer risks and improving survivorship. ❤️

Volunteer firefighters: You donate your time to protect your community, but we still don't fully understand how cancer impacts volunteer firefighters like you. You can help change that by joining the NIOSH National Firefighter Registry for Cancer. Your participation helps us better understand and reduce cancer risk in the fire service: NFR.CDC.gov
