Meeting this morning with DOTD and contractors regarding 1207
Update:
After today, the contractor anticipates approximately two more days (weather permitting) of placing the mainline asphalt wearing course (possibly finish on Monday 5/11 or Tuesday 5/12 since rain is forecast the remainder of this week). Upon completion, they will proceed with temporary pavement markings and installation of mailbox pads, driveway aprons, and guardrail pads. These activities involve shorter lane closures and typically progress more quickly.
Following that, the contractor will install aggregate shoulders throughout the project, which is also expected to move at a relatively fast pace. The final major items include installation of centerline and edge line rumble stripes, along with permanent striping.
Remaining items such as seeding, loop detection, and mailbox installation are generally completed quickly and are not expected to significantly impact traffic wait times.
Recap:
For the remainder of this week, while LEAP and AP testing is ongoing, the contractor has agreed to delay starting asphalt wearing course operations until 8:00 AM in the vicinity of the high school and elementary school. This adjustment is intended to reduce traffic delays for teachers and students during their morning commute and help ensure timely arrival for testing.
During the meeting, LADOTD and Diamond B Construction contacted Mrs. Jessica Alwell, Principal of Buckeye Elementary, to inform her of the plan outlined above.
Following the meeting, John Laborde with Diamond B Construction met with Mrs. Holt, Principal of Buckeye High School, to communicate the same plan.
Also, the Project Engineer plans to reach out to the Principal of Buckeye Junior High to communicate the same plan outlined above.
Any remaining work near the schools will be scheduled while class is in session to minimize impacts to student, teacher, and bus traffic.
Variable message boards will continue to be used to notify motorists of expected delays.
The Project Engineer’s Office will maintain weekly communication with all schools
