Looks like this isn’t the first time Elmbrook has exaggerated it needs vs wants.

Same sales pitch, different decade?

Reporting from Elmbrook’s failed 2007 referendum in The Waukesha Freeman had voters saying that Elmbrook exaggerated problems. They questioned wants vs. needs and felt materials created by the district were bogus.

Sound familiar?

When that referendum was significantly reduced from ~$109M to ~$62M, it narrowly passed with 52% of voters in favor. At the time the $62M referendum was passed, it appears to have been the largest in the state.

It seems easy to manipulate the information to favor the information you need to help pass a referendum.

Outstanding facilities in 2020, what has happened in 6 years that they need $100M?

2020: OUTSTANDING FACILITIES
2026: $100M FACILITY REFERENDUM

So…. how did go from boasting about outstanding facilities to needing $100 million for facilities in only six years?

In 2020 Superintendent Mark Hansen highlighted outstanding facilities in his annual report. $20M of spending was noted for the new district office, updated athletic fields, a new gym at Tonawanda and more.

There was no mention of ADA issues. No mention of challenges with the gym size at PPMS. No mention of issues with Tonawanda’s classroom layout. No mention of hallway congestion issues.

Make it make sense.

The words “fully fund schools” gets thrown around a lot by liberals, but never an explanation of what that really means. What does that mean when we are spending $17,400 per child to educate them.

Wisconsin students, teachers, staff and taxpayers need efficiently funded schools. My opponent’s push for “fully funded schools” is a fatigued slogan. I’ll work to improve student performance and school staff morale. Vote Mike Morgan for Nov. 3 or in advance!

The other side has finally said the quiet part out loud.

YOUR SCHOOL TAX RATE IS SCHEDULED TO GO DOWN IN 2028.

The existing 2008 referendum debt is finally being paid off.
That means the $0.56 per $1,000 debt portion is scheduled to come off — a reduction equal to:

$400,000 home → $224/year
$500,000 home → $280/year
$600,000 home → $336/year
$750,000 home → $420/year

The proposed $100 million referendum would instead establish a projected debt rate of $0.67 per $1,000, which the District describes as $0.11 above the current debt rate.

With affordability on everyone's mind, the difference between these two paths deserves to be clear.
Know the numbers vote NO Nov. 3.
