Brockton Community Schools The office is open throughout the year, and suggestions for new programs and ideas for how to improve our offerings are always welcome.

Brockton Community Schools was founded in 1970 to provide community education, enrichment and recreation opportunities to children and adults throughout the city. In the past three decades, it has grown and evolved, serving thousands of children and adults in a wide variety of programs, from basketball leagues to sewing courses, English As A Second Language Instruction, GED preparation, automotive

repair, yoga and computer classes. Community Schools also provides highly successful vacation and before- and after-school academic and enrichment programs for Brockton children, providing safe spaces and caring adults 12 months a year. A division of the Brockton Public Schools, Community Schools is operated and staffed by highly qualified professionals from the educational, business, sports and arts communities. Community Schools currently oversees four major programmatic areas: academic support and enrichment programs for students, continuing education and ESL services for adults, and recreation and enrichment programs for the community.

An anonymous donor generously provided supplies for our No-Bake activity at Baker Extended Day. Students followed a written and visual recipe to create Ocean Crabs, practicing their ability to follow directions and sequence steps independently. Additional activities included a crab-themed coloring activity, sensory exploration at the sand table, Play-Doh play, and STEM building challenges, which encouraged creativity, fine motor development, and problem-solving skills.

It was a Terrific Tuesday at Baker Extended Day where students participated in several fun and engaging centers. Using soft puffy clay, students created the different parts of a plant while learning about plant structure. They also explored their creativity through butterfly painting and bracelet making activities. In addition, students enjoyed hands-on STEM building challenges that encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and imagination. It was a wonderful day filled with learning, creativity, and fun!

Baker Extended Day students enjoyed Memorial Day 🇺🇸 themed centers! After a discussion about the meaning of Memorial Day, students participated in several patriotic activities, including red, white, and blue bracelet making, Memorial Day crowns, and decorating donated cups with flag and star stickers.
Thank you to our parent donor for the cups!

Freedom isn’t free. Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country! Happy Memorial Day from all of us at Brockton Community Schools ❤️🤍💙

Get ready to see engineering in action! Our Grades 3–5 students recently stepped into the roles of junior engineers during an exciting STEM competition designed to bring physics to life. Working in teams, students were challenged to design and build a functional catapult with one goal in mind: launch a mini marshmallow farther than the competition! Using only a handful of simple materials, they collaborated, problem-solved, tested ideas, and refined their designs to maximize distance. This hands-on challenge encouraged creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and perseverance — all while making learning fun and memorable.
