WQ Division - Summer Temp

LOCATION: 1 position in Sallisaw, 1 position in Bristow, and 1 position in Geary.
SALARY: $16.00/hr
WORK HOURS: Typically, 6:00 A.M. TO 4:30 P.M. Monday through Thursday, but may vary.
CLOSING DATE: Friday, February 27, 2026
EDUCATION: 24 hours towards the completion of a major or minor in the biological or environmental sciences is preferred, but not required.
WORK
OPPORTUNITIES: Streams - Work will include the collection of water quality data using field meters; collection of water samples; collection of benthic macroinvertebrate samples; collection of fish using seines and backpack, pram and boat electrofishing gear; collection of stream habitat data. The successful applicant may also assist with equipment maintenance, sample delivery, data review, and data entry.
WORK
REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be willing to work in the field and office and be able to listen and follow instructions. Work often requires strenuous physical work in extreme weather conditions. Applicant must be willing and able to lift and carry 50 lbs. of equipment for extended distances, swim, and work safely with others alone or with others. Overnight travel may be necessary. Expenses (hotel) and per diem will be paid for overnight trips. Most importantly, the applicant must be reliable, have a good work ethic, and a desire to learn.

EXPERIENCE: No experience required but is preferred.
TIME FRAME: Start date on or about May 18-26, 2026. End date of August 17-24, 2026, or start of fall semester. Both start and end dates may be negotiable.

The Creek County Conservation District held its annual locally LED Meeting. The meeting was located at the Creek County Fairgrounds in Kellyville/Sapulpa.

A number for critical topics were covered by our guest speakers:
* Rhonda Bowman, Oklahoma Conservation Associations Districts, Area III District Coordinator
* Olivia Toothman, OSU Ag Extension, Agriculture/ 4-H Educator

The main theme of the event was:
* Learning All the Benefits of what OSU Extension Offices can do for You !
* The benefits of the Oklahoma Association of Conservations program offered by Creek County Conservation District.
* A "LOCAL" survey was given to the attendees asking for their feedback on what programs are important to Creek County Landowners.
* A discussion of the potential infestation of the "Screw worm" and it's impact on the local cattle production.
A well attended event!
