Yesterday following a tip from the public the Alexandria PD with help from Officer Taylor from Bristol PD located the missing vehicle of Dan Jones along a remote road off Fowler River Rd. A search was conducted with the help of Fish and Game Officer Towne and unfortunately Dan was found deceased not far from where the vehicle was located.
Dan had been missing since December of last year.
We would like to thank the public for all the tips and information that were given to us. We would also like to thank all the agencies that were involved in this investigation, there are too many to mention.

I would like to thank Officer Reynolds for his incredible dedication to this case during the investigation.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.

๐Ÿšจ Second shout out of the day for Officer Taylor! ๐Ÿšจ

At the end of his shift, just before heading home around 4:00 AM, Officer Taylor located a stolen public works truck out of Cambridge, MA traveling through Bristol. A pursuit was initiated and continued through New Hampton, Meredith, and into Laconia before being terminated at the request of the Laconia Police Department.

The pursuit was not at high speeds and traffic volume at the time was low to none.

Great work by Officer Taylor staying proactive and alert even at the end of a long shift. ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿพ Maybel has done it again!

Yesterday, thanks to the great work of Officer Taylor, Officer Grier, and K9 Maybel, a 5-year-old autistic child who had wandered away from his residence was safely located.

K9 Maybel successfully tracked the child, helping bring the situation to a safe ending. Outstanding teamwork by everyone involved and a great example of the dedication our officers bring to protecting our community every day. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿš“ Training Opportunity Hosted in Bristol ๐Ÿš“

The Bristol Police Department was proud to host Northeast Counterdrug Training Center (NCTC) out of Pennsylvania this week, along with our partners from the Alexandria NH Police.

Officers from across New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Maryland participated in a Physical Surveillance Course, receiving high-level, hands-on training designed to strengthen investigative skills and enhance public safety efforts.

Our new Public Safety Training Room proved to be the perfect location to host this training, allowing for a professional and effective learning environment. We appreciate the continued support from our residents for giving us the opportunity to host trainings like this right here in our community.

We are fortunate to be able to bring this top-tier training to our region at no cost, providing valuable opportunities for local and visiting officers alike to learn, collaborate, and build partnerships.

We are happy to continue working with our partners to offer additional training opportunities throughout this year and into the future.

Thank you to NCTC, Alexandria PD, and all attending agencies for making this a great week of training.

๐Ÿšจ SCAM ALERT โ€“ CHIME PAYMENT APP FRAUD ๐Ÿšจ

The Bristol Police Department would like to make residents aware of a recent increase in scams involving the Chime payment app.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have received 5 reports where victims were targeted through ads found on Facebook Marketplace and other Facebook listings. These scams have involved:
โ€ข Apartment rentals
โ€ข Dog adoptions/rescues
โ€ข Items for sale

How the scam works:
Scammers are taking legitimate ads and reposting them as their own. Once contact is made, they request a deposit through the Chime app. After receiving the initial payment, they continue to ask for more money for things like:
โ€ข Spare keys
โ€ข Mailbox changes
โ€ข Paperwork or transaction fees

Once payments are sent, the scammer disappears.

โธป

โš ๏ธ What to watch for:
โ€ข Deals that seem too good to be true
โ€ข Requests for payment before seeing a property/item in person
โ€ข Sellers or โ€œlandlordsโ€ who cannot meet locally
โ€ข Pressure to send money quickly
โ€ข Requests to use payment apps like Chime, Cash App, Venmo, etc.
โ€ข Multiple unexpected fees after an initial payment

โธป

โœ… How to protect yourself:
โ€ข Never send money upfront for rentals, pets, or marketplace items
โ€ข Always meet in person and verify the property/item is legitimate
โ€ข Confirm ownership (especially with rentals) through public records or known contacts
โ€ข Avoid payment apps for transactions with people you do not know
โ€ข Be cautious of anyone asking for additional payments after a deposit
โ€ข Trust your instincts โ€” if something feels off, it probably is

โธป

๐Ÿ“ž If you believe you have been targeted or scammed, please contact the Bristol Police Department immediately.

Please take a moment to check in with elderly family members, as scammers often target them.

Stay safe, Bristol.

Tip of the week

๐Ÿšจ Scam Alert โ€“ Please Share ๐Ÿšจ

The Bristol Police Department has received an increase in reports of phone scams in our area over the past several weeks.

These scammers often claim to be from a police department or another government agency and will tell you that you owe money or have a warrant for your arrest. They may demand immediate payment over the phone, sometimes asking for gift cards, wire transfers, or other unusual methods.

Please remember:
๐Ÿ”น No police department will ever request payment over the phone
๐Ÿ”น We will never threaten arrest to demand immediate payment
๐Ÿ”น Legitimate matters are handled through official documentation and proper legal process

Scammers frequently target elderly individuals, so please take a moment to talk with your family members, friends, and neighbors about these types of calls. A quick conversation can prevent someone from becoming a victim.

If you receive a suspicious call:
๐Ÿ“ž Hang up immediately
๐Ÿ“ž Do not provide any personal or financial information
๐Ÿ“ž Report it to your local police department

If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact us directly using a known phone number.

Stay alert and help us spread the word.
