🚨 SUMMER SAFETY REMINDER: E-Bikes & Scooters 🚨

School's out and we're already seeing more kids on electric bikes and scooters in our community. We love seeing kids active and outside, but we want to make sure everyone gets home safe.

Here's what parents AND riders need to know about Pennsylvania law:

E-BIKES IN PENNSYLVANIA:
• 🔞
You must be at least 16 years old to operate an electric bike. If your child is under 16, they cannot legally ride one.
• 🪖
Helmets are required by law for riders under 12. We strongly recommend every rider wear one regardless of age.
• 💨
Speed limit is 20 mph on roads and bike paths.
• 🚦
All traffic laws apply. E-bike riders must follow the same rules of the road as any other vehicle.
• 📋
No license, registration, or insurance required — as long as the bike meets PA specs (750W max motor, under 100 lbs, with working pedals).

⚠️ Parents — this one's important: If your child is under 16, they cannot legally ride an e-bike on public roads or paths. Many families don't realize this when they purchase one. Please check the age requirements before buying or allowing your child to ride.

🛴 Electric Scooters: Under current Pennsylvania law, e-scooters are classified as motor vehicles. This means they require registration, a valid driver's license, and must meet state equipment standards to be operated legally on public roads. Legislation is pending in Harrisburg but has not been signed into law. Until then, e-scooters are not legal for use on public streets, sidewalks, or bike paths.

More information can be found from this link:
https://www.pa.gov/content/dam/copapwp-pagov/en/penndot/documents/public/dvspubsforms/bmv/bmv-fact-sheets/fs-momo.pdf

We want this to be a safe and fun summer for everyone. If you have questions about e-bike or scooter laws, feel free to reach out to us directly. Stay safe out there! 🚴‍♀️☀️

Happy School Bus Driver Appreciation Day!

We appreciate our dedicated school bus drivers for their hard work and commitment to keeping our kids safe. As we take a moment to recognize our school bus drivers, let us also remember to keep our children safe on the roads. Here are some essential safety tips for drivers encountering school buses and students waiting at bus stops:
-Follow the speed limit and laws, especially in school zones and at bus stops.
-Never drive distracted or use a phone or device while driving.
-Pay attention to the flashing yellow and red lights on a school bus. When the red lights flash, stop your vehicle and wait patiently while students enter/exit the school bus. Never, ever pass a school bus when the red lights are activated!
-Slow down and watch for children walking in the street, especially when there are no sidewalks.
-When school buses are in an intersection with red lights activated, the bus controls the entire intersection! That means no vehicles in the intersection should be moving.

THANK YOU bus drivers!
