Tonight we are in Zagreb, Croatia, where out host, Darko, has a record shop specializing in Vinyl called the Woodstock Shop. Here he is with his son, Ian. Walking around Zagreb, it's an unusual combination of ultra-modern architecture, Soviet-era concrete block apartments, and old, rustic homes with little yards, sometimes right next to each other.

In the summer of 1984 I was busking in Paris when I got a call from Germany. "We heard you on Fast Folk," she said. "Want to come to Germany and play a concert for a group of us who run coffeehouses?" I took the overnight train and played the Villingen Folk Club, and the next spring went back with Mark Dann and did a tour of Germany and Italy.
Tonight we play the Villingen Folk Club once again, maybe the 9th or 10th time. It'll be like old times. They're still going strong, and if you're in the south of Germany please come see us! Monday we're on to Innsbruck, Austria and then Zagreb, Croatia. For tonight: https://www.folk-club.de/home

This summer my family and I are driving coast-to-coast, visiting some national parks and old friends. And along the way I am doing some concerts. But I could use a few more. If you'd like to help out with a house concert, referral or place to crash (four people, reasonably neat and self-contained) on our way, please message me privately here. Here's our current itinerary, we're just getting started:
June 8 UU Church of Bluffton, SC
June 15 House Concert, Chicago, IL
June 20 Cafe Carpe, Ft Atkinson, WI
June 24-29 Whitefish, MT--hosting "Songwriting With Rod MacDonald", an online class with Common Ground On The Hill.
July 12 Egan's Ballard Jam, Seattle, WA
July 17 Golden Gate Park Bandshell, San Francisco, CA
August 1 Red Dragon, Baton Rouge, LA
August 13 school starts in south Florida

The calendar will be updated as we add things, so please check https://www.rodmacdonald.com/events/month/ for updates. And maybe we'll see you this summer!

Synopsis: From its pastoral opening to its concluding serenade, "The American Guerillas" by novelist Rod MacDonald treats his reader to exciting episodes of romance, police chases, individual confrontations, and military camaraderie. Yet, above all, it's a story of lovers who must risk everything to solve a mystery if they are to have a chance at staying together.

"The American Guerillas" vividly entertains with a story line that includes time travel, the tarot, and Native American spirituality, and mixing a love story with a crime narrative. Originally begun nearly four decades ago,

Critique: A deftly crafted novel throughout, "The American Guerillas" deftly weaves together elements of magical realism, romance, and action/adventure in an original and entertainingly compelling read from cover to cover. While it is an especially and unreservedly recommended for community library collections, "The American Guerillas" is also readily available for personal reading lists in a digital book format (Kindle, $3.99).
