All 64 parishes are still under burn ban. The rain was nice and much needed but not enough to make the chances of wildfires any less. Pleaae keep that in mind when planning your Labor Day holiday events! We want everyone to be safe and enjoy the (some what) lower temperatures this week as we head into the holiday weekend when the temperature rises back to the triple digits 🥵🥵🥵

All three of Janet and Mac's daughters would attend schools in South Bossier and would graduate from Parkway. (c/o 00, 03, & 07) They instilled in their girls the same sense of duty and service to one's community as Mac's parents had instilled in him.

Sarah would go on to follow in Mac's footsteps and work for Bossier City Police department as a dispatcher. Sarah's late wife was also a Bossier City Police officer for almost 16 years before she passed in 2021.

Allison would take the lesson of service to her community and apply it to becoming a Paramedic for different ambulance services, however due to an injury she was unable to continue. She took a teaching job at Bossier Parish Community College where she teaches fire men and women about the emergency medical field. Allison's husband also served as an E.M.T. for different ambulance companies, as both were unable to serve Bossier Parish or Bossier City for ethical reasons.

Beth obtained her B.S. and Masters degrees from Louisiana Tech University. (Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Master of Arts in Teaching) Beth then brought her education back to Bossier Parish where she started her teaching career at Bossier High (as her grandmother had) for one semester until a position opened at her Alma Mater. It was always Beth's dream to teach at Parkway and she has been shaping the minds of young panthers there since 2013. Her husband is also an educator teaching in Bossier and DeSoto parishes until obtaining his Special Education Certification and now teaches in Red River Parish.

Perhaps my (being his daughter) personal favorite accomplishment of Mac while at Parkway was his meeting and convincing Janet Messer to go out with him. They dated from their junior year through graduation, and after attending seperate colleges they decided to make it official. In August of 1979 Mac and Janet married and made their home on Orbit st in Sun City subdivision. Mac had already began his career at the Bossier City Police department and Janet began her career as an educator in Bossier Parish. Living pay check to pay check as his parents had, Mac and Janet welcomed their first of three girls in 1982. After saving and planning, not to mention many a part time job as an officer in his off time, a year later Mac and Janet moved their family to Lucky Estates off of Sligo rd. where they still live today.

What little growth occurred in Louisiana over the past decade was disproportionately focused in cities and suburbs in the southern half of the state and among non-White residents.

Paul "Mac" Plummer has been a South Bossier resident since he was a year old. His father was a Bossier City Police officer and his mother began her 20 plus year teaching career at Bossier High School, then the only High School for South Bossier. They were hard working, civic minded, and lived pay check to pay check to provide for their family. Both of his parents instilled in Mac the importance of serving his community to the best of his ability and to value his integrity above his pride.

Mac attended Curtis elementary and Parkway High School where he graduated in 1974. He played football for the Panthers all 4 years and also played in the Pride of Pantherland Band. His senior year, Mac became the very first All-District athlete for Parkway High School, however that is not his proudest accomplishment from his time at PHS.

Mac's senior year he was instrumental in bringing the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to Parkway High. After learning that Centenary College had weekly FCA breakfasts, he and a friend would load up his mother's station wagon with fellow athletes to attend those breakfasts. Eventually, Mac applied for membership and brought the FCA to Parkway.
