They’re repeating behaviors that have been practiced, reinforced, and misunderstood. 👀🐾
The little things matter:Waiting at doors.Walking calmly.Checking in with you.Learning how to exist calmly in the world.
Training changes more than behavior — it changes the relationship. 🖤

“My dog knows he did wrong… look at that guilty face.” 👀🐾

Spoiler: your dog probably doesn’t feel guilt the way humans do.

What you’re actually seeing is your dog responding to:
✔ Your tone of voice
✔ Body language
✔ Previous consequences
✔ Tension or frustration from you

Dogs are masters at reading human behavior.
So when you come home to a shredded couch and your dog looks “guilty,” they’re usually reacting to YOU — not reflecting on their bad decisions like a person would.

This matters because punishment after the fact doesn’t teach your dog what they did wrong. Dogs learn through timing, clarity, repetition, and consistency.

If your dog is constantly “getting into things,” the answer usually isn’t guilt. It’s:
• Lack of structure
• Lack of supervision
• Too much freedom too soon
• Unmet mental or physical needs
• Behaviors that were never properly taught

Training isn’t about making dogs feel bad.
It’s about helping them understand how to succeed. 🖤

Your dog growls when you reach for their food bowl. That's not "just how he is" — that's resource guarding, and without the right intervention, it can escalate into a bite.
Most owners don't recognize the early signs until things have already gotten serious. A freeze. A hard stare. A low growl. These aren't attitude problems — they're warnings your dog is giving you before they feel like they have no other choice.
Swipe through to understand what resource guarding actually is, what the warning signs look like at every stage, and what you can do right now to keep your family safe.
Save this if you have kids and a dog in the same house. Share it with someone whose dog does this.
👇 Drop a "RG" in the comments if your dog has ever guarded food, toys, or space — you're not alone and it is addressable.
