Sometimes a simple heads-up can help prevent a bigger problem.

Last week, a resident brought attention to a sightline issue near a business entrance where overgrown landscaping was making it difficult for drivers to see oncoming traffic. After reviewing the issue, our Public Works Department was able to respond quickly and remove the obstruction.

We appreciate residents letting us know when they see something that could create a safety concern. The best way to make sure we see a concern is to message the Town directly or contact Town Hall. If you do share a concern on social media, tagging the Town can also help us see it more quickly. Including the location, a brief description, and a photo when possible helps us get the issue to the right department.

At the same time, not every concern is something the Town can address immediately or directly. Some issues involve private property, state-maintained roads, utilities, businesses, or other agencies. When the Town does have a role, there may be a legal process we are required to follow, and that process can take time.

In many situations, our first step is to talk with the property owner, understand the circumstances, and work toward a practical solution before moving into formal enforcement. That people-first approach often creates a better experience for everyone involved and can lead to better long-term compliance than moving directly to formal notices or enforcement action.

Either way, we’re here, we’re paying attention, and we’re always trying to help where we can. Please keep letting us know when you see something that may need attention.

Town offices will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth.
🗑️ Friday's trash collection will be on Thursday, June 18.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation reached enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. It is a time to honor freedom, reflect on our nation's history, and recognize the importance of equality and dignity for all.
We wish everyone a meaningful Juneteenth.
