Happy Jail Officers Week to the incredible men and women of the Early County Sheriff’s Office!

This week, we proudly recognize a group of professionals whose sacrifices often go unseen.

While many are enjoying holidays, birthdays, family gatherings, school events, weekends, and special moments with loved ones, our jail officers are often on duty, making sure others remain safe and that order is maintained behind the scenes.

Many of you have missed holidays at the dinner table, important milestones, and precious family moments because your responsibility to serve calls first, and that sacrifice deserves to be acknowledged.

Working inside a jail requires strength, patience, discipline, compassion, and mental toughness. It’s not an easy job, and many people will never fully understand the challenges you face daily. Yet you continue to show up, remain professional, and handle your responsibilities with dedication and resilience.

You are truly some of the BEST in the state, and your hard work does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and your commitment to your department and community.

We appreciate you. We honor you. And this week we celebrate YOU!

Thank you Protecting K9 Heroes for donating the trauma kit supplies. We appreciate the passion in helping protect our K9’s. We hope to never have to use the kit but very grateful for just in case!

Welcome Georgia! K9 Mamba and Lt. Wayne Aunspaugh from the Early County Sheriff’s Office are now safer on the streets with their K9 Trauma and Narcan Kit. 💙🖤🐾🐾

We are thrilled to announce the newest member of our team, K-9 Mamba, who has officially joined us as a Narcotics Patrol Officer! Partnered with Handler Lt. Wayne Aunspaugh, K-9 Mamba completed an intensive training program on April 10, 2026 in Dooly County. They completed 160 hours training in narcotics and tracking. They are now certified to serve our community, bringing enhanced safety and capabilities to our agency. Congratulations. We can’t wait to see what this team will accomplish together!

Serving and protecting the citizens of Blakely and Early County isn't easy, and Major Sandra Martin has done it with grace for 35 years.

She always excels in any task given to her. She wears many hats within our agency: Patrol Commander, SRO Director, and CHAMPS Coordinator.
